Select New Copper Art Pieces Now Available
I have been working on some new works on copper that are now available here. These are all one of a kind and created on solid sheets of copper that I have fabricated as a canvas. My father worked with copper a lot when I was younger, and I always have been gravitated to the material since then. The art is created using various patinas, and completely inspired by the ocean and my relationship with it. They were inspired by a trip I made up and down the west coast, camping, surfing, taking photos, and sharing the peace and overwhelming beauty of the ocean with a good friend of mine. Each one could be viewed as simple or complex, completely random or deliberately planned, peaceful or overwhelming. Each one carries a bit of the sea and a bit of my heart.
I present to you some of the latest pieces in the ongoing series "Through the Window of the Sea: The Search for Youth, Freedom, and an Ever-changing Utopia."
I leave you with a small snippet of one of my favorite poems ever. I had it glued to my bedroom door as a kid.
I will go back to the great sweet mother,
Mother and lover of men, the sea.
I will go down to her, I and none other,
Close with her, kiss her and mix her with me;
Cling to her, strive with her, hold her fast:
O fair white mother, in days long past
Born without sister, born without brother,
Set free my soul as thy soul is free.
